Useful Information

St Petersburg is situated on the banks of the River Neva and is perhaps one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Under Tzar Peter I it became the capital of a great world power in 1712 and through many of its famous citizens it has influenced the world.

The Poet Pushkin, the composer Tchaikovsky, the jeweller Fabergé, the writer Dostoevsky and the chemist Dmitry Mendeleev all lived in St Petersburg.

It is a grand city with elegant palaces, spacious squares and the river and adjacent canals give perspective and reflection; surely ideal for those who look with artistic eyes.

In a short trip it is not possible to do justice to the many museums and historical and cultural landmarks but we have chosen carefully and included some free time for those who have a particular wish in mind.

The focus of the trip will be artistic but for those who just want to enjoy the treasures of this beautiful city without a personal sketch book there will be plenty to do.
